Care guide

Quick ID

Large evergreen conifer (*Pinus strobus*). Soft blue-green needles in bundles of five; graceful form.

Sun & Site

Full sun (6+ hrs); prefers moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Draper's alkaline clay and dry heat are not ideal — water deeply and mulch.

Pruning & Shaping

Minimal pruning. To shape, pinch the new candles in late spring. Never cut back into bare old wood; it won't regrow.
